Former "O.C." star Mischa Barton was sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation as part of a plea agreement relating to a December DUI arrest, according to People.com.
As a first-time offender, the 22-year-old actress was also ordered to pay a fine of approximately $2,000 and complete a three-month alcohol-related education class, a common sentence for those without prior convictions.
Additionally, a charge related to drug possession (due to the small amount of marijuana she had at the time of her arrest) was dropped, People.com reported. The charge of driving without a license was reduced to an infraction.
Barton did not show up at the hearing held Thursday morning (April 10) in Beverly Hills, California, but lawyer Anthony V. Salerno pleaded no contest on her behalf.
"The DAs were very fair in handling this case," Salerno told People.com. "Mischa's glad the case has been resolved."
Barton was arrested in the early morning on December 27, after police noticed her car weaving across lanes on La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood. The "Sixth Sense" actress was arrested and charged with four misdemeanors: driving under the influence, possession of illegal narcotics, driving without a valid license and driving with a blood alcohol level above .08.
Barton is slated to appear in several upcoming movies, among them "Assassination of a High School President" alongside Bruce Willis, and "You and I (Finding tAtU)" with Anton Yelchin.
Barton had no immediate statement at press time.
